What Is the Battery Capacity?

Update: the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt battery capacity is now published as 65 kWh (LFP chemistry). The 85 kWh Equinox EV figure is based on GM Canada technical documentation for versions offering up to 513 km of range. Charging cost calculations use Hydro-Québec’s residential Rate D and are provided for reference.
Battery 2027 Bolt 2026 Equinox EV
Battery Capacity 65 kWh 85 kWh
Estimated cost of a full home charge* Approximately $4.59 (about $5.00 including charging losses) Approximately $6.01 (about $6.50 including charging losses)
Electric propulsion warranty 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first

How Much Does a Full Charge Cost with Hydro-Québec?

Since April 1, 2026, Hydro-Québec Rate D bills electricity at 7.065¢/kWh for the first daily tier of up to 40 kWh, then 11.142¢/kWh for additional electricity use. Fixed network access charges are not included below because they are billed even when the vehicle is not being charged.

Calculation used: Bolt: 65 kWh × $0.07065/kWh = approximately $4.59. Equinox EV: 85 kWh × $0.07065/kWh = approximately $6.01. After accounting for normal charging losses (approximately 8% to 12%), the total is about $5.00 for the Bolt and $6.50 for the Equinox EV.

Actual cost varies according to the applicable rate tier, household electricity use that day, temperature, charger efficiency and the battery’s starting state of charge.

Vehicle Format, Cabin and Cargo Space

Both models seat up to five occupants. Chevrolet presents the Equinox EV as a compact SUV and publishes a maximum cargo capacity of 1,620 litres. The Bolt uses a more compact format; however, Chevrolet Canada does not publish its maximum cargo volume on the official page consulted.

Driving in a Quebec Winter

Chevrolet recommends preconditioning the cabin while the vehicle is plugged in. This allows energy from the charging station to heat or cool the cabin before departure instead of relying only on the battery once on the road.

One-pedal driving and regenerative braking can also recover some energy during deceleration. Their operation and effectiveness can vary with temperature, state of charge and road conditions.

Propulsion Battery Warranty

Chevrolet Canada indicates that the propulsion batteries in the 2027 Bolt and Equinox EV are covered by a limited warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first. For any specific vehicle, the complete terms in the warranty guide supplied with the vehicle remain the reference.
