The Electric Affordability Program (EVAP) is now available from Transport Canada. Explore how federal and provincial EV rebates in Canada can make your next Chevrolet more affordable

The Government of Canada has launched the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP)1, replacing the former Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles Program (iZEV). As of February 16, 2026, eligible battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) qualify for up to $5,000 in federal incentives for the 2026 program year.

Key eligibility requirements:

  • The vehicle’s final transaction value must be $50,000 or less (before taxes). This includes MSRP, factory options, dealer accessories, and administrative fees. It does not include freight, extended warranties, winter tires, Level 2 chargers, insurance, financing or leasing costs, down payments or trade-ins, or government incentives or charges.
  • Vehicles must be manufactured in Canada or in a country with a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Canada. Vehicles manufactured in China are not eligible. 
  • Individuals are limited to one EVAP rebate over the five-year program period (2026–2031). Businesses and organizations may receive up to 10 rebates total.
  • The rebate applies to new vehicles only (demo vehicles with fewer than 10,000 km that have never been registered also qualify). 
  • Lease incentives are prorated by term length: 48+ months = full rebate, 36 months = 75%, and 24 months = 50%.

How Much Is the EV Rebate in Canada?

EVAP incentive amounts are designed to encourage early adoption and will decrease annually over the lifetime of the program. The highest rebates are available in 2026.

The EVAP program is scheduled to run until March 31, 2031, or until funding is exhausted. Incentive amounts are determined by the date the dealership submits the eligibility assessment, not the vehicle delivery date.

In addition to the federal EVAP incentive, several Canadian provinces offer their own electric vehicle rebates that can be combined (stacked) with the federal program.
