Home Charging and DC Fast Charging

The 2027 Bolt comes with a native NACS port. Chevrolet says it can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 25 minutes on a compatible DC fast charger, according to GM estimates. The manufacturer also states that its maximum charging speed is up to 2.5 times faster than the previous generation when connected to a charger rated at 150 kW or more.

How Large Is the Battery?

Update: the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt battery capacity is now published at 65 kWh with LFP chemistry. The 85 kWh Equinox EV capacity corresponds to GM Canada technical documentation for versions offering up to 513 km of range. Charging cost calculations use Hydro-Québec’s residential Rate D and are provided for informational purposes.
Battery2027 Bolt2026 Equinox EV

Theoretical cost of a full home charge* ≈ $4.59 (≈ $5.00 including charging losses) ≈ $6.01 (≈ $6.50 including charging losses)
Electric propulsion warranty 8 years or 160,000 km 8 years or 160,000 km

How Much Does a Full Charge Cost with Hydro-Québec?

Since April 1, 2026, Hydro-Québec’s Rate D charges 7.065¢/kWh for the first daily block of up to 40 kWh, followed by 11.142¢/kWh for additional energy. Fixed network access charges are not included in the calculation below because they are billed even when no vehicle is being charged.

Calculation used: Bolt: 65 kWh × $0.07065/kWh = approximately $4.59. Equinox EV: 85 kWh × $0.07065/kWh = approximately $6.01. After adding normal charging losses of approximately 8% to 12%, the cost is about $5.00 for the Bolt and $6.50 for the Equinox EV.

The actual cost varies depending on the applicable rate tier, the home’s energy consumption that day, temperature, charger efficiency and the battery’s starting state of charge.

Size, Interior and Cargo Space

Both models accommodate up to five passengers. Chevrolet describes the Equinox EV as a compact SUV and publishes a maximum cargo volume of 1,620 litres. The Bolt uses a more compact format; however, Chevrolet Canada does not publish its maximum cargo volume on the official page consulted.

Driving During a Quebec Winter

Chevrolet recommends preconditioning the cabin while the vehicle is plugged in. This feature allows energy from the charger to heat or cool the cabin before departure instead of relying solely on battery power once the vehicle is on the road.

One-pedal driving and regenerative braking can also recover some energy during deceleration. Their operation and effectiveness can vary depending on temperature, state of charge and road conditions.

Propulsion Battery Warranty

Chevrolet Canada states that the propulsion batteries in the 2027 Bolt and Equinox EV are covered by a limited warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first. For any specific vehicle, the complete terms in the warranty guide supplied with the vehicle remain the authoritative reference.
